Taylor Swift was the first-time recipient of a brand new award at the 2014 American Music Awards tonight (Nov. 23) and her speech was totally killer.

The honor -- the Dick Clark Award for Excellence -- was presented by living legend Diana Ross, who introduced Taylor as "talented and beautiful" and a "true superstar." The segment then went on to talk about what makes Taylor so fitting for this award -- from her many broken records (which, let's be real, could garner their own three-hour awards show) to how appreciative she is of her fans.

Her speech touched on everything from feminism to the importance of recognizing music as art to thanking her fans. There's no way we could do it justice with a simple summarization, so read it in full below:

"I am so blown away to have just received an award from Diana Ross, who just over the course of her career stood up for herself so many times in a time when it was not popular for a woman to stand up for herself. I am so honored.

Dick Clark was a visionary. He fought for music to be at the forefront of our minds and on our televisions as much as possible. I am so unbelievably ecstatic his family chose to honor me and that the AMAs chose to honor me with this.

And lastly, you. You guys. To the fans that went and bought of a million copies of my last three albums, what you did by going out and investing in music and albums, is you’re saying that you believe in the same thing that I believe in: that music is valuable and that music should be consumed in albums, and albums should be consumed as art and appreciated. And I love you so much. I love getting to know you, I love talking to you online, and I love having a glimpse into your life. And I am so unbelievably happy that you want to have a glimpse into my life.

Thank you so much."
