It's that time of year again. The annual South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas has become a mecca for hip-hop meetups. First kicking off in 1987, the three-week festival dedicates time to technology, film and music and features panel discussions as well as performances.

The music portion has gone from 700 registrants in the 1980s to over 28,000 as of 2014. SXSW has become universally accepted by the hip-hop world as a hub for new talent. While big names like 2 Chainz, Pusha T, Waka Flocka Flame and more dominate top billing on marketing flyers, there's still a possibility for fresh talent to be seen and heard in the bars of 6th Street. For a young rapper who's just starting to generate buzz, a few shows or street freestyles at SXSW can translate into career-sparking exposure. Acts like Jhene Aiko, Kid Cudi and Kendrick Lamar have gone down in SXSW history for delivering some of their most memorable performances in Austin.

More that 2,000 artists will appear at SXSW 2016. Amid the corporate sponsorships, panels, street sightings and mansion parties, there's a ton of chances for music lovers to see the hottest new acts. If you're heading down to Austin and are getting overwhelmed with the possibilities, keep in mind that too many options is a good problem to have. And luckily, since the music portion of the conference lasts for a week, you're bound to catch your favorite rapper at more than one show.

From Future to Kari Faux, Desiigner to Lil Durk and more, these are the rappers you must see at SXSW 2016 this month.
