Things can get gritty and contentious at times in hip-hop especially when you're in a genre of music whose major players are so competitive. Tempers will flare and, unfortunately, sometimes violence occurs. A few weeks ago, a fight broke out between the crews of Baton Rouge rappers Kevin Gates and Boosie BadAzz when they clashed at a show in Louisville, Ky. Both the rappers were billed to perform at the same show and things were running smoothly until the brawl broke out off stage as Gates ended his set. There’s been a longstanding tension between Gates and Boosie that dates back a few years.

Whenever there are fights between rap crews, there's always a fear that things can escalate into something deeper. Hip-hop's nightmare was realized last week when a shooting broke out at T.I.'s show at Irving Plaza in New York City. Troy Ave's crew got into a scuffle backstage, which resulted in the Brooklyn rapper's BSB member dying and three others shot, which included Troy himself.

This sad incident is what hip-hop heads don't want to see. However, it likely won't be the last time a rapper's crew gets out of hand. There will be countless others and now with cameras on every smart phone, the fights will always be recorded for the world to watch. Check out a list of rappers' crews getting into fights that were all caught on camera.

  • G-Unit's Crew and Slowbucks Fight at Summer Jam

At Hot 97's Summer Jam in 2014, G-Unit finally reunited during 50 Cent’s set. Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks and Young Buck performed together with Fif for the first time in years. Unfortunately, things weren’t all celebratory. A fight broke out onstage as G-Unit was performing. Slow from Slowbucks was apparently angry because security refused to let him join G-Unit onstage. As things escalated, Lloyd Banks also looked upset about the situation. Fabolous attempted to calms things down and walk Slow off the stage. Hot 97 host Ebro Darden also had to talk with Bucks to calm the situation. A source at Summer Jam claimed that Slow had problems with one of the members in 50 Cent's crew, which would explain why the fight broke out.

  • T.I. and Shawty Lo's Crews Get Into It at Dirty Awards

T.I. and Shawty Lo's crews got into a brawl in 2008 at the Dirty Awards in Atlanta. The self-proclaimed “Grand Hustle Muscle” Alfamega then lost his cool and threw a chair onto the stage. Yung L.A. and other Grand Hustle artists then reportedly rushed the stage, but cops quickly intervened.

Moments later, Tip took the stage to accept an award and asked that his beef with Lo is squashed during the acceptance speech. Tip’s plea apparently fell on deaf ears. Another altercation took place while Tip and Grand Hustle performed “Ain’t I.”
