Flint's Claressa Shields celebrated her 21st birthday by earning a trip to Rio to defend her gold medal in the Olympics.

Imagine a typical young adult, turning 21, on St. Patrick's Day . . . most of us would only have blurry memories of whatever happened.

Claressa isnt like most people though, she is after all, the first American woman to win Olympic Gold in boxing.

She showed that same determination, and drive on her 21st birthday as she defeated Yenebier Adelina Guillen Benitez of the Dominican Republic.

The win ensures that Claressa will be heading to Rio to defend her first Olympic Gold medal, and hopefully bringing another one back to Flint.

You can watch the fight below, Claressa gets into the ring at the 1:30:30 mark of the video.
