Claressa Shields Wins Opening Bout In 2016 Olympics, Advances To Semifinals

Flint's Claressa Shields put on an amazing performance with an unanimous decision win over Russian Yaroslava Yakushina.

Claressa Shields is planning to bring back gold to her hometown of Flint, and she passed her first test with flying colors as she defeated one of Russia's best female boxers, Yaroslava Yakushina.

Sheilds is currently 75-1 in her professional boxing career and will take on Kazakhstan's Dariga Shakimova on Friday for the semifinal in the 165-pound middleweight division.
