The Coast Guard and Michigan State Police are looking for the pilot that flew an airplane under the Mackinac Bridge while it was packed with cars.

The fly under happened while the bridge was full of travelers heading north for the 4th of July weekend on June 28th. After you get over how insane this is, it's important to remember that it is illegal. The Mackinaw Bridge is roughly 200 feet over the water, and by law planes can only fly 700 feet over the span of any bridge.

Now the MSP and Coast Guard are looking for clear video or pics of the plane so they can find the person responsible. So far, only the video above has surfaced, and it is too far away to identify any of the planes markings.

Officials are asking that you submit any tips anonymously using the Coast Guard Tips app. Download it for Apple here and Google Play here. You could also call the MSP office at 906-643-7582.

The first thing I wondered when I heard about this story is how many other people have flown under the Mackinac Bridge. Surprisingly  it doesn't happen very often, and the most notable time happened in 1959. The plane in the video above is a small plane flying under the bridge, but when it happened in 1959, it was a different story. You can read about the time an Air Force Captain flew a huge bomber under the bridge.

My family and I were just in Macknac City last week, and we actually took a nighttime cruise under the bridge. It was my first time being under the bridge, and it's crazy how much bigger it seems from the water. Despite being such a massive structure, I still don't think I would want to be in a plane flying underneath the bridge.
