The Detroit Lions have six total picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, and they got off to a great start picking Penei Sewell in the first round.

I have to admit that I was just as nervous as the rest of the Lions fans out there before the draft started. The Lions have a history of making questionable moves with high first round draft picks, so nobody knew quite what to expect. Luckily the new Lions regime made the right move and picked up a dominant offensive linemen in Penei Sewell from Oregon.

It's no secret that the Lions are starting another rebuild in Detroit, so nobody really knew what to expect out of the Lions first pick. Luckily Sewell fell to the Lions with the 7th pick, and they were able to pick up the best offensive lineman in the country.

Hopefully this pick is a sign of things to come from the new brass for the Lions. Detroit hired Dan Campbell to coach the team, and this is definitely a good way to start off his career in Detroit. The Lions war room was thrilled after the pick was made official during the draft.

The Lions still have quite a bit of work to do in the draft, and they will have picks in each of the following rounds to do it. Barring any trades, here are the Lions remaining picks in the 2021 draft. We'll update them as they are drafted so you can stay up to date.

  • Levi Onwuzurike, DT, Washington
  • Alim McNeill, DT, North Carolina State
  • Ifeatu Melifonwu, CB, Syracuse
  • Rd 4 (112)
  • R 5 (153)

NFL analysts are giving the Lions first pick an A+ grade, so that's about as good of a start as you can get.
