Four men in Detroit learned the hard way that making threats to police on Facebook will get you arrested.

The Detroit News reports that the men posted threatening messages on Facebook, with one of the men urging his friends to kill white police officers.

The DPD is treating these threats the same way that they would treat a terrorist threat.  Police Chief James Craig commented on the arrests,

while it's been established that hate speech is protected by the First Amendment, we're talking about people specifically saying on Facebook they want to kill white police officers.

Two of the men were released after being arrested, while the other two were held for different charges.

Being a police officer has never been an easy job, but it seems like it may be the most difficult job in America right now.  The vast majority of police go to work every day and do the right thing.  Now many of them are faced with violence toward them because of the actions of a few irresponsible officers.

Nobody is perfect, and everyone has the right to be angry, confused, hurt, sad, and many other emotions.  The problem is when those emotions turn to violence against other people.
