She found that sewing was a way for HER to cope with life's challenges, and she wanted to share that with others.

Flint fashion designer Kala Wilburn lost her brother to violence. As a way to cope with her grief, she started sewing...and hasn't stopped since. Now, she's created a local camp that will teach kids how to sew, too.

The camp is called Fashioned with a Purpose and today is the last day. While it's geared towards kids, it's open to anybody over the age of 7 who wants to learn how to sew. And this weekend, the kids will showcase their creations during a fashion show at Flint Alley Fest downtown.

Definitely gonna head to downtown Flint this weekend and check out the fashion show! Big props to Kala, she's being "the change" that she wants to see in the world.
