2-time Boxing Olympic Gold medal winner Claressa Shields and water polo goalkeeper Ashleigh Johnson were named the Women's Sports Foundation Sportswomen of the Year.

Flint has a lot to be proud of when it comes to Claressa Shields. The Flint native just scored another win for the city by being named Sportswoman of the Year. This is the first time in the awards history that a boxer has won.

It's really great to see someone like Shields bring so much positive energy to the city of Flint. With all the negativity that happens in Flint on a daily basis, we need more people like Claressa Shields.
