Former Linden Girl Scores Leading Role In Netflix ‘Tall Girl 2′
Former Linden resident Ava Michelle Cota moved to California years ago to pursue her dream of acting, singing, modeling, and dancing. Yes, she does it all. To say her move to Los Angeles paid off is an understatement. Since leaving Michigan Ava Michelle Cota scored the lead role as Jodi Kreyman in the Netflix original movie 'Tall Girl', and she will be starring in the sequel 'Tall Girl 2'.
Tall Girl was a huge hit for Netflix, I watched it - did you? I am guessing the answer is yes because the movie was watched 41 million times in its first month of release in February of 2019. If you are not familiar, the premise of the movie is as follows,
Jodi, the tallest girl in her high school, has always felt uncomfortable in her own skin. But after years of slouching, being made fun of, and avoiding attention at all costs, Jodi finally decides to find the confidence to stand tall.
Spoiler alert - the first Tall Girl movie of course ends with Jodi gaining self-confidence, and kissing her BFF. Where will we find Jodi in Tall Girl 2? From what I have read, Jodi will be back at school dealing with her new popularity.
Speaking of school, here is a fun fact - I went to school in Linden with Ava's mom Janette Cota. Trust me when I tell you the apple did not fall far from the tree here, Janette is a very talented model and dancer herself. As a matter of fact, Janette owned and operated a very successful dance studio in Fenton prior to moving to Los Angeles.
If you watched the reality show Dance Moms - then you definitely know both Ava and Janette, both starred in the series. You can see a clip of them on the show in the video below. Funny enough at the 1:30 mark, dance instructor Abby Lee Miller tells Ava she is 'too tall'. At just over six feet tall, Ava Cota is having the last laugh now.
Tall Girl 2 will start streaming on Netflix on Friday, February 11th. As of now, no official trailer has been released, but you can see the cast announcing the sequel in the video below, and check out the trailer for the first Tall Girl too.
Congratulations Ava - I cannot wait to see what you do next.
