Dozens of Flint residents are without a home after their apartment complex burned Monday night.

Lapeer Gardens Apartments caught fire Monday night, and if it weren't for a few heroic kids, the situation could have been much worse. Andriana Smith is the property manager, and told WNEM about what the young heroes did.

We had some young children that were out. They were knocking on the doors. They were waking everyone up. We call them our little heroes. Thank God for them

There has been no cause of the fire given yet, but the fire department is investigating.

The Red Cross is helping the families affected find some temporary housing, but more help will be needed soon. We will be doing a fundraising drive to help everyone that has lost their home. If you are able to help out, please email me clay@club937.com or contact the Red Cross at 800-733-2767.
