Help Stamp Out Hunger This Weekend With The USPS
The 27th annual 'Stamp Out Hunger' Food Drive with the United States Postal Service is happening Saturday, May 11th.
Every year mail carriers for the USPS pick up non-perishable food items along their route. The food in our area is then given to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. A press release from the Food Bank detailed the process that happens on Saturday.
Leave a bag of non-persishable food by your mailbox or where mail is usually delivered. Make sure to put it out early in the morning, well before mail typically is delivered. A letter carrier will pick up the bag during their routes. Volunteers from the United Way of Genesee County will help sort and package donations at Mid-Michigan post offices before they are delivered to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
Mail carriers will pick up any food bag that is left for them on Saturday.
