The restaurants range from brand new, to staples that have been around for decades.

USA Today Names the Best Restaurant in Michigan
Detroit's Selden Standard has made USA Today's "2024 Restaurant of the Year" list.
Located at 3921 2nd Ave, in Detroit, Mich., the restaurant is described as a "stylish spot for seasonal, locally sourced New American small plates, and craft cocktails."
This is not the first time the restaurant has received accolades. Selden Standard was named an Outstanding Restaurant semi-finalist in 2024 by the James Beard Foundation, Restaurant of the Year in 2015 by the Detroit Free Press, and Restaurant of the Year in 2016 by Hour Detroit magazine.
At Selden Standard you'll find rustic, fun food. The current menu includes appetizers like Roasted Mushrooms, Squash Pakora, and Ricotta Gnocchi. For dinner, enjoy Beef Bolognese, Grilled Michigan Pork, Salt-Cured Cod, Whole Trout, and more.
Here's USA Today's praise for Selden Standard, by way of Lyndsay C. Green, of the Detroit Free Press:
When it opened in 2014, Selden Standard brought a fresh culinary perspective to midtown Detroit, a neighborhood better known for its fast-casual spots and takeout joints than upscale dining establishments. In the decade that followed, the New American restaurant has become a pillar in midtown, which is now a hotbed for some of the city’s most popular restaurants, and a beacon for Detroit’s culinary scene at large. The Selden Standard team has racked up six James Beard nominations and in 2015, the restaurant was named the Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Restaurant of the Year. The space’s modern aesthetic serves as an ideal backdrop for a rotating menu of simply prepared seasonal ingredients, house-made pastas and breads and Michigan-raised meat charred in a wood-fired hearth.
