Going to the Detroit Zoo is an absolute blast, but let's be honest, it can be really annoying when kids are running around and screaming everywhere. It would be nice to have one night without a child in sight. Well, that's exactly what you're going to get this Friday night at the Detroit Zoo.

This Friday (10/14) night the Detroit Zoo will host "Spooky Spirits", an adults-only themed event that will take place after hours. The Halloween-themed event will include a variety of activities including a haunted trail, a costume contest with prizes, yard games, face painting, animal habitat chats, photo ops, and more.

The best part about "Spooky Spirits" at the Detroit Zoo aside from it being adults-only will be their selection of themed specialty cocktails. Yes, you can enjoy some cocktails at the zoo without a kid in sight.

I'm not anti-kids or anything, I love kids. It's just nice to be able to go out once in a while and not have the stress of kids running mad all over the place. It's really a rare opportunity to be at the zoo without kids everywhere when you think about it.

This one-night event is part of a series of similar events at the zoo. There's also an adults-only polar bear event taking place in December.

How Much Are Tickets?

Tickets are $50 which seems a little steep but that does include some tasting tickets and access to the Detroit Zoo's habitats.

If you're not a drinker and couldn't care less about drink tickets, they also have a $30 ticket for designated drivers.

Abandoned Detroit Zoo

Remember the Belle Isle Zoo? Sadly the property has been neglected - and all but forgotten - since its closing in 2002.

WARNING: Under no circumstances should you enter this property. By doing so you risk bodily harm and/or prosecution for trespassing on private property.
