Former University of Michigan football star Denard Robinson is no longer with the Wolverines football program, according to Wood TV.

Who is Denard Robinson?

Robinson was the Wolverine's quarterback from 2009-2012 and went on to be drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 5th round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent four years in the NFL as a running back.

In 2022, Robinson made his way back to the UofM program as the team’s assistant director of player personnel.

What did Denard Robinson Do?

On April 15 in Ann Arbor, Robinson was involved in a crash just two miles away from the team offices in Schembechler Hall where he was arrested for suspected drunk driving. He was then suspended indefinitely by new head coach Sherrone Moore. Wood TV reports they were told Robinson is no longer on staff, pointing to 'personal matters,' the University will not clarify if he resigned or was terminated.

This is not the first potential DUI to come from Wolverine personnel recently, as freshly hired defensive line coach Greg Scruggs was also arrested for suspected drunk driving. Just like Robinson, he was then suspended indefinitely and later resigned. That incident occurred just weeks before Robinson's.

Not only is it not the first time this has been an issue for the Wolverines, but Robinson himself. In 2016, as a running back with the Jaguars, Robinson drove his car into a retention pond at 4:20 a.m. and was found asleep at the wheel according to CBS Sports. The 2016 report stated that the officer screened Robinson for possible impairment, and found he was not impaired. But it is unclear how the officer came to that conclusion.
