Why would a popular grocery retailer that’s open seven days a week suddenly close its doors for an entire day? Not just one store but every location in Michigan. Knowing full well they’ll lose millions in the process, what could possibly be worth that?

Well, one company knows exactly what they'll be losing for an entire day, but they seem to care more about their employees than making the mighty dollar, at least for one day, anyway.

Remember when companies got so greedy that they couldn’t even shut down for one day? It was pretty much unheard of. Holidays, family time, none of it mattered as long as the money kept rolling in. But lately, there’s been a bit of a shift. A wake-up call, maybe. More businesses are finally getting it and hitting the pause button so their employees can actually enjoy the holidays for once.

Grocery Retailer Closing All Michigan Locations on the Same Day

Not every company is waking up to the idea of closing its doors for an entire day, but Costco certainly is. They’ve decided to close all of their Michigan locations for Easter Sunday.

While I love that they’re giving employees time to spend with their families, they may not have thought this one all the way through. Easter falls on April 20th this year. Yep, that’s 4/20. They might not realize they’re closing on the one day when more Michiganders than ever are bound to have the munchies.

For the record, Costco isn't the only major company closing on Easter.
