Michigan Woman Hit With $11,000 Water Bill After Meter Issue
A woman in Oscoda Township opened her water bill and saw a number that made her literally pull over on the side of the road. We’re talking $11,303.17.
Yeah…for water.
According to ABC 12, her name is Tracy Lewis, and she says her normal bill is around $130 a month since only two people live in the house.

A Simple Meter Issue Turned Into a Massive Bill for Oscoda Township Woman
According to the township, a wire connected to the water meter became disconnected. They say that it can happen from the weather or even animals messing with it.
Because of that, the meter wasn’t accurately tracking usage for months.
Okay, no big deal, right? The water company should just charge her the average bill since it was faulty equipment. Oh no…they still want their money.
Oscoda Township Still Wants Thousands Despite Faulty Water Meter
The township says they’ll take about $4,000 off the bill. Are you freaking kidding me?
That still leaves her owing around $7,000!
That township needs to step up and do what’s right. It’s absolutely disgusting that they would even consider charging someone that kind of money.

Of course, she’s now worried that her service will get shut off and has even started a GoFundMe to try to cover it.
The only thing that confuses me is that ABC 12 says she still owes $7,000, but she’s only asking for $700 on GoFundMe. That doesn’t exactly add up, so I’m curious what’s going on there.
I get that things break. Stuff happens. But how does something like this go on for months, and then suddenly it’s the homeowner’s problem?
This whole situation is just gross.
