Oakland County Road Collapses, Creates Scenic Waterfall After Major Flooding
While most of us would love to have a nearby waterfall to check out now and then, residents in Oakland County definitely didn’t have this in mind.
After heavy rains earlier this week, part of Canyon Road in Oakland County completely gave out, leaving behind a mess, a traffic nightmare, and, somehow, a brand-new waterfall.
Yep, you read that right. The road collapsed so badly that water is now rushing through the gap, creating what locals are calling “Canyon Falls.” And honestly? It’s kinda cool looking… if you ignore the whole destroyed-road part.
“It’s the most exciting thing that we’ve had on this road that I can remember. We have a new fall,” one gentleman who lives on the road said.

But don’t let that awesome view fool you—it’s actually pretty dangerous. The flooding opened up the ground, exposing a gas line. So, crews have to be extra cautious as they try to figure out how in the world to fix the mess.
Unfortunately, there's not much they can really do yet. The water is still flowing, and until it slows down, those repairs are on hold.
According to WDIV, it won’t be an easy fix. Between the damaged road, the exposed gas line, and the nonstop water flow, this one’s going to take some time.
