Video Shows the Sad Reality of Burton’s Courtland Center
When I was a kid, my mom would drag me out to Eastland Mall in Burton all the time. Which, if you’re old enough to remember, is what we used to call Courtland Center before the big name change in the mid-80s.
From the department stores to the food court, it was always insanely busy in there. It was surely a different vibe than the apocalyptic one you get today.
I would spend hours dumping tokens into video games at Aladdin's Castle, long before it became El Cozumel Mexican Grill, which is what it still is today.
What Stores Have Left Courtland Center?
Is Courtland Center completely dead inside? Pretty much. Even Bath & Body Works, which has been there forever, is packing up. They recently announced they are moving across the street to The Courtyard Shopping Center.

Video Shows Courtland Center’s Decline
A little less than a year ago, a video popped up online that really drives the point home. It takes you on a walk through Courtland Center and shows just how empty and lifeless it feels today. Long stretches of vacant storefronts, wide open walkways, and not a shopper in sight.

Watching it is kind of eerie. If you grew up going to Eastland Mall or Courtland Center, it almost feels like you are walking through a time capsule.
