In the photo gallery below, you'll see how an ordinary commercial building in the Motor City's Martin Park neighborhood has been beautifully rehabilitated into a 4,500-square-foot residence.

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover

On the outside, this commercial brick building looks a lot like many others in the Midwest. The property located at 2222 Puritan Avenue was once home to a pharmacy and later a gym. It's now on the market for $799,500, with Christina Gennari of KW Domain in Birmington handling the listing.

The inside, however, is a completely different story. Over the last two years, it has been completely renovated into a spacious single-family home with wide-open spaces and a contemporary design that's brimming with character. As you'll see below, the tall ceilings and exposed ductwork contribute to the home's unique feel.

While the home has only two bedrooms and one bathroom, there is more than enough room to stretch out.

Plenty of Parking

Gennari tells the Detroit Free Press that the property also has ample enclosed parking.

"There's enclosed parking, so you can fit up to five cars in the unit," Gennari said. "It was purchased as just a vacant commercial property."

Gennari goes on to note that the inside of the garage area features a mural of the late Tupac Shakur, painted by award-winning Detroit artist Desiree Kelly.

Take a look at this one-of-a-kind home in the pictures below.
