Multiple Fenton residents have made police reports, saying they've received calls from a man who claims to be 'Sgt. Adams,' 'Sgt. Scott Adams,' 'Sgt. Archer Adams,' or a similar variation.

The Fenton Phone Scam

The man posing as a sergeant for the Fenton Police Department tells residents there is a warrant out for their arrest because they've missed jury duty.

Officers tell WNEM-TV that the man is very convincing, offering to take payment over the phone or to arrange a meeting at the Fenton Police Department or Genesee County Jail to accept payment.

Some residents say the calls have originated from (810) 215-0313 but warn that technology enables scammers to spoof numbers in an attempt to appear as if they're calling from a local phone number.

Police Warn About Phone Scams

A spokesperson for the Fenton Police Department tells the TV station that officers will never contact residents over the phone regarding warrants. They won't ask for payments over the phone and they won't meet up with residents for any sort of money exchange.

As always, never share personal information or bank account information or provide gift cards to anyone who solicits over the phone. It's also a good idea to make sure that vulnerable family members understand the risks regarding suspicious callers.

What are the most popular fast-food restaurants here in Michigan? If you're automatically assuming that the chain with the Golden Arches has the most locations, you're in for a shock.

As you take a look at the pics below, see if you can figure out which location we've featured. All pictures are from the greater Flint area, and we've left in just enough background for you to be able to make an educated guess.

The answers are below.

By the way, the ranking is based on the restaurants with the most locations in The Mitten, based on data from the Friendly City Lab at Georgia Tech. Their numbers are based on data compiled in 2021, so some numbers may have fluctuated since then.
