We first reported on a new dining experience coming to Birch Run, Michigan in early November.

Now, 136 Center has started the opening process.

It's perfectly, and centrally, situated for anyone in Mid-Michigan from Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, Midland and Frankenmuth.

Many will remember the property as the Exit Restaurant.

They've completed renovated the interior to include 136 Grill and 136 Prime. Each is focused on steak and seafood.

You wouldn't recognize anything about the inside or outside of the building today.

If you wonder what the "136" portion of the name is based upon... think about the I-75 exit number for Birch Run/Frankenmuth, 136.

Perhaps a nod to the late "Exit Restaurant?"

Over Thanksgiving weekend, they held a soft opening with a limited menu.

The food and drinks looked very tempting.

When will 136 Center officially open in Birch Run?

We spoke with an employee to find out when the official grand opening will be held.

  • Mark your calendars for December 1, 2023.
  • 11am-11pm Sunday-Thursday
  • 11am-1am Friday and Saturday.

The menu will be limited to start.

New restaurant and event space in Birch Run.

It looks like their business model will not solely rely on destination shoppers, residents and travelers.

The space will accommodate weddings, parties and other large events, too.

Remembering the Grand Opening of AutoWorld in Flint, Michigan

A short-lived Six Flags theme park, AutoWorld was supposed to be a tourist destination in Flint. Sadly, after several starts and stops, AutoWorld was imploded in early 1997. The land is now owned by University of Michigan-Flint and is home to the William S White Building.
