Family-Owned New Spot for Good Eats Opens in Flint
Is it possible to be an unofficial foodie in the Flint area? We have so many great restaurants, food trucks and bar & grill spots it's fun to explore Genesee County's food universe. (I say unofficial because I'd be the size of a barn if "foodie" was my career.)
I Love Pig
Flint is home to a new restaurant with homemade Latin (Venezuelan) recipes. It's simply called 'I Love Pig.' I love the name. It implies you're in for something delicious (in my head). Already famous for their Venezuelan pork arepas, they serve pork sandwiches, too.

What are arepas?
Think of it like a cornmeal cake or pie. Or think of little cornmeal cakes placed outside of a tender pile of slowly roasted pork shoulder -- almost like hamburger buns, but better. The pork shoulder is usually simmered in onion, garlic, chiles and peppers with chicken broth. Sprinkle a little queso fresco on top and enjoy some of the most flavorful pulled pork you'll experience.
Where is I Love Pig in Flint?
- Previously it was a pop-up food stand that would show up at Downtown Flint's Farmer's Market 300 East 1st Street, Flint, MI 48502. Now, it's upgraded to a move inside. Charlie's Smokin' Barbecue is still there, too. You'll find them located near each other. WNEM-TV reports they opened Thursday April 27th, 2023.

If you haven't been to Flint Farmer's Market in a while, remember spring and summer means they're open more days/hours. There's an amazing array of food shops inside. Take a look, below.
