Flint Family Wins Spectacular Light Up Genesee County Challenge

Every holiday season Flint and Genesee County residents get festive with Christmas light displays.

And, each year, Flint's Cars 108 radio and ELGA Credit Union host the "Light Up Genesee County" Contest.

It's an opportunity for festive folks to be rewarded for their whimsical and creative displays -- not to mention all of the hard work they put into it.

Light Up Genesee County 2023 Winner

As Santa's elves combed through all of the beautiful submissions, one family in Flint really stood out.

Introducing our 2023 winners The Willits Family from Flint's Mott Park.

Meet "Christmas Carol" and "Santa Pat." They tell us it takes about 40 hours to put up all of their twinkling lights. Carol says her husband Pat, 69, does most of the work.

Neighbors around Mott Park love their displays so much, they want to make it an annual event for the neighborhood to gather and "flip the switch."

With over 10,000 glimmering bright in their winter wonderland, we congratulate the Willits family on their win for 2023.

Remembering the Grand Opening of AutoWorld in Flint, Michigan

A short-lived Six Flags theme park, AutoWorld was supposed to be a tourist destination in Flint. Sadly, after several starts and stops, AutoWorld was imploded in early 1997. The land is now owned by University of Michigan-Flint and is home to the William S White Building.
