2025’s First Millionaire: Michigan Lottery Player Wins Mega Millions
Just a week into the new year, a Michigan Lottery player has already won $1 million playing the lottery's Mega Millions game.
The lucky player matched all five white balls in last night's (1/7) Mega Millions drawing but failed to match the yellow Mega Ball. The white numbers drawn were 20, 24, 33, 39, and 48. Tuesday's Mega Ball number was 18.
How Many Mega Millions Winners Were There?
The Michigan player was the only player to win $1 million by matching all five white balls. No one snagged the Mega Millions jackpot, estimated to be worth about $62 million. The Mega Millions game is available to lottery players in 45 states across the US. Friday's jackpot now increases to roughly $77 million.
Another 10 players scored $10,000 by matching four numbers and the Mega Ball.

The lucky player has one year to come forward to claim his or her prize. Suzanna Shkreli is the Michigan Lottery Commissioner. She's pleased to note that Michigan is starting 2025 with a $1 million lottery win.
"A Michigan Lottery player is starting the new year off with a big boost to their bank account after winning $1 million in last night’s Mega Millions drawing!" she said. "Congratulations to the winner."
Can Mega Millions and Powerball Winners Remain Anonymous?
Although legislation has been introduced to protect Michigan Lottery winners' anonymity, Michigan residents who win multi-state lottery jackpots currently cannot remain anonymous. However, as we explained here, there is a loophole that helps winners protect their identity.
