Michigan Player Wins Big in Powerball Drawing

A Michigan Lottery player is waking up as a $1 million winner after hitting it big in the Powerball. And with the Powerball jackpot now approaching $1 billion, the timing just may be right for another Michigan player to cash in for an even bigger payday.

The winning Michigan ticket matched all five white-ball numbers in Saturday night's drawing, missing only the red Powerball. That was good enough for a $1 million prize.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the $1 million winning ticket was sold at Big Top Market on Clyde Park Avenue in Wyoming. Three other $1 million winners were sold in Arizona, Florida and New York.

Who Won the $1 Million Powerball Jackpot?

We're still waiting to hear who Michigan's latest millionaire is, as the player who purchased the ticket has not yet come forward.

Meanwhile, nobody matched all six numbers in Monday night's drawing. It was the 43rd consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner, sending the Powerball jackpot soaring to an estimated $975 million for Wednesday's (August 12) drawing.

Is it Possible for Lightning to Strike Twice?

The largest Powerball jackpot ever won in Michigan was the $842.4 million prize from January 2024. The winning ticket was sold at Food Castle in Grand Blanc and belonged to a three-person lottery club known as "The Breakfast Club."

Michigan Lottery players who win state games are permitted to remain anonymous, but winners of large multi-state jackpots generally have to be identified. However, forming a lottery club gives winners another option: One member can serve as the group's public representative while the other members remain anonymous.
