Michigan Could See Three Rounds of Severe Thunderstorms This Week
If you've got outdoor plans, a construction project underway, or even just a long commute, you'll want to keep an eye on the sky over the next couple of days.
Michigan Could See Three Separate Waves Of Storms According to Experts
MLive and other weather forecasters are watching a powerful storm system expected to send multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms across Michigan. This isn't shaping up to be a one-and-done event. Meteorologists say the state could see as many as three separate waves of strong to severe storms between Wednesday evening and early Friday morning.

The first round could arrive Wednesday evening, with a line of thunderstorms pushing into southwest Lower Michigan before tracking east across the southern part of the state. Then, before many people are even awake Thursday morning, another line of storms could develop and move across much of Lower Michigan, potentially affecting areas farther north than the first round.
Thursday Night Appears To Be The Biggest Storm Concern for Michiganders
The third round is getting the most attention right now. Forecast models suggest the strongest storms could develop late Thursday evening in northwest Lower Michigan, including the Traverse City area, before sweeping southeast across the rest of the state overnight.

The Storm Prediction Center already has much of Michigan highlighted for severe weather on both Wednesday and Thursday. Parts of the state are under an enhanced risk for severe storms, and forecasters are signaling the potential for some higher-end severe weather, with damaging winds being the primary concern.
How Michigan Residents Can Prepare for Severe Storms This Week
At this point, it's too early to know exactly which communities will see the strongest storms. That's why weather experts are urging residents to stay updated as forecasts become more refined over the next 24 to 48 hours.
