Watch: Eminem Joins Superstar Ed Sheeran for Two Songs at Detroit Show
It was a surprise the Detroit audience didn't expect as Eminem joined superstar Ed Sheeran onstage to perform two songs at Saturday's (7/15) Ford Field Show.
That Was Sneaky, Mr. Sheeran
"I wonder if I can play you a cover of an Eminem song?" the Thinking Out Loud Singer asked the crowd of about 60,000 people.
Sheeran was coy and evasive as he teased the crowd: "I think you know it. We rehearsed it today. We'll see how it goes," he said before launching into the opening chords of 'Lose Yourself.'
The surprised crowd roared as the hometown rapper stepped onto the stage (at about one minute into the video below) to join Sheeran for the second verse.
Numerous people have posted video of the moment on various social media channels with the crew at 'ePro Team: Support for Eminem & Shady Records' curating the videos to produce the performance that's embedded below.
Not One, But Two Eminem Songs
When you're in Detroit, one Eminem song just isn't enough.
"Can I just say one thing," Sheeran said after the crowd cheered with approval for the duet. "He was gonna come on and do one song and I said, 'You can't come one in Detroit and just do one song,' Do you want another song?"
Sheeran's rhetorical question was met with thunderous applause as he gave Eminem a quick embrace and encouraged the crowd to sing along as he launched into Slim's 2000 hit 'Stan.'
The pair then recreated their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction performance, with Sheeran covering Dido's parts of the smash song.
"I don't know about you, but that was pretty awesome," Sheeran said before launching into his next song.
