Johnson & Johnson is famously known for its baby powder and its recently recalled COVID-19 vaccine is now back in the news for its sunscreen products.

Reports are saying that some Johnson&Johnson sunscreen products have traces of benzene, which is a chemical that can cause cancer if used repeatedly. Oh great! First the fumble on the vaccine, now the fumble on sunscreen. Part of me feels like Johnson&Johnson doesn't really care about completing the necessary testing before releasing a product.

The affected products, packaged in aerosol cans, are Aveeno Protect + Refresh aerosol sunscreen, and four Neutrogena sunscreen versions: Beach Defense aerosol sunscreen, CoolDry Sport aerosol sunscreen, Invisible Daily Defense aerosol sunscreen and UltraSheer aerosol sunscreen.

Benzene is a highly flammable, widely used chemical that's present throughout the environment. It can cause cancer with repeated exposure at high enough levels.

J&J said it's working to get all lots of the five products removed from store shelves. It urged consumers to stop using the sunscreens immediately and said customers can get a refund by calling J&J's Consumer Care Center at 1-800-458-1673. Source:NBC25.com

This is definitely a bad look for Johnson&Johnson, and they deserve it. How many negative press releases are we gonna talk about with J&J before we do something? With that being said, I'm an idiot. I couldn't develop a sunscreen product even if I tried. But, I would never release a product without it being tested forwards and backward.  To me, selling a product is not as important as keeping people safe and healthy.
