Last month, Kanye West sparked a ton of controversy when he claimed that slavery was a choice for Black people. Now, in a newly revealed version of his Ye album opener, "I Thought About Killing You," he speaks on slavery once again.

“If I wasn’t shining so hard, wouldn’t be no shade/Buckwheat ass n*!ga, it’s gon' be okay/Sorry but I chose not to be no slave/Young n*!ga, n*!*a, we don’t age," he raps in this version of the track, which was uploaded to YouTube this past Tuesday (June 5).

Kanye initially spoke about the nature of Black enslavement during an appearance on TMZ last month. "When you hear about slavery for 400 years -- for 400 years? That sounds like a choice," Kanye said at the time. "Like, you were there for 400 years and it's all of y'all?"

It's unclear who, exactly, uploaded this newly leaked version of the Ye opener, but there's a chance Yeezy didn't intend for it to be heard. Speaking about Ye on Big Boy TV last Friday (June 1), Kanye explained that he changed his entire Ye album after making his controversial comments about slavery on TMZ.

"I completely redid the album after TMZ and sat there and really honed in on the words," Yeezus told Big Boy. "Cause also we know now, it's all headlines. Every bar can be used. It's even bars that we had about [the slavery being a choice comments], I took them all off the album. It was just too sensitive to talk about that topic and stuff. I was like, 'Yo, I'ma just chill right now. Let's just keep making some music.'"

So maybe this version of "I Thought About Killing You" was the incarnation Yeezy recorded before his infamous TMZ moment. Then again, it appears his lyrics could be a reference to the comments he actually made on TMZ, meaning he recorded this version of the track after the incident. Kanye has yet to speak on this himself.
