Kids Make Rap About Growing Their Own Food & Eating Healthy [VIDEO]
I honestly expected the song to be wack with a positive message, but it's actually pretty good!
Appetite For Change is a non-profit organization that "uses food as a tool to build health, wealth and social change" and is based in North Minneapolis. According to their Facebook page, they have many programs to help urban youth learn to farm, prepare food, and even prepare for careers in the food industry. They hold cooking workshops for the community and they also own and operate Breaking Bread Café & Catering (restaurant) and Kindred Kitchen - a place open to the public that's available for learning and kitchen rental. I thought the song was cool, and digging deeper I have found that the whole structure of AFC is something everyone can benefit from. I would love to see something like this in Genesee County one day! You can learn more about Appetite For Change by clicking here. In the meantime, check out their song "Grow Food". Broccoli never sounded this cool when I was a kid!
PS - I give them bonus points for the stereotypical school lunch lady.
