Saginaw residents are teaming up with police again this year to help curb crime with the 'Light Up The City' project.

Tonight kicks off the annual Light Up The City project, and 2017 looks to be a very good year.  The goal is simple, residents are asked to turn on their porch lights in a show against neighborhood crime.

The kickoff celebration is tonight at 5:30pm on Ojibway Island, followed by the walk at 6:30pm.

The celebration will be followed by two months of action every Wednesday night.  Volunteers will walk through Saginaw neighborhoods handing out light bulbs, and give information about the project.

If you are interested in volunteering over the next couple of months, you can contact Trooper Will Smith at  989-495-5553.  You can get more information about Light Up The City, just visit their web page here, or follow the activities on Facebook.
