Local students received $1000 scholarship for winning a video contest for Vic Canever.  Not only did the student win some scholarship money, they also won $500 dollars to be award to Fenton High School.

Ken Carbary lead a team in producing a 30 second commercial that won the competition.  The commercial will make its way to local television station to begin air next month.

Congrats to the student for getting that money!

Five teams from high schools in Genesee County took place in the contest, which was started in November and required that they submit a 30-second video television spot.

Fenton High School student Ken Carbary, who led the team and produced the winning television spot received the $1,000 college scholarship, according to a news release. A $500 donation to the school's video production department also will be given.

"Vic Canever decided to start this contest to give back to the community, and to help local high school kids showcase their talents. We know that these kids are the future of our community and we are excited to invest in their future," said Matt Stevens, general sales manager, in the news release.
