An accident just before noon today has prompted the closure of two major Flint-area freeways. The accident took place on I-75 near Bristol Road when an eyewitness reported dodging a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. Now a police accident investigation will keep the major Flint arteries closed for several hours.

Northbound I-75 is closed at I-475 in Grand Blanc Township, or you may want to get off at Exit 109 - Dort Highway instead. Northbound US-23 is closed at Hill Road as a result of the accident, but traffic is backing up as far south as Thompson Road.

I-475 seems to be the best route around the police investigation. Although traffic volumes are very heavy going northbound on 475, traffic is moving at posted speeds. Listen to Cars 108 for continuing coverage on the freeway closure, and call in any updates when it's safe to do so at 810-239-1079 or #108 from your cell.

UPDATE: As of 4:37pm, the freeway has reopened.
