Not a surprise, but still a disappointment for many - the Midland County Fair has been cancelled this year. The fair was originally scheduled to run August 16th - August 22nd. According to a press release sent out by the fair, the decision was made in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

There is one silver lining for many kids is the youth livestock, horse and small animal events will go on. Fair Board President Margaret Wegner, had this to say,

'Youth livestock exhibitors have already purchased market projects and raised their animals. We want to help them with their projects. The cost to implement the modified fair for the youth is our way of investing in the youth of Midland County'.

Keep in mind these events will be for exhibitors only, as in not open to the public. At least the kids do get to show off their hard work. You can read the official press release regarding the cancellation below.

Like I said above, this is disappointing for a lot of people and families. You know what I was most disappointed about? Some of the rude comments I saw on the Midland County Fair Facebook page. I would hope we could all agree this decision was not made lightly. There is a lot of planning that goes into an annual event like this, I am quite sure this was not an easy decision to make.

The Midland County Fair is already on the books for next year, August 15th - August 21st of 2021.
