Yes, you read the headline above right. Talk about a show of appreciation, a  retiring Mount Morris restaurant owner left his business to his employees. Show of hands from people who think their boss would do the same? I am sure there are not alot of raised hands.

More often than not, when a business owner retires the business is then run by a family member or sold. I have never heard of a business owner turning everything over to an employee. In this particular case 17 employees are involved.

Gillie's Coney Island Restaurant owner, David Gillie, went above and beyond for his employees. Instead of having his restaurant of 36 years be sold to a stranger, David Gillie is investing in the future of the restaurant and its staff.

According to MLive, Mr. Gillie was able to sell the restaurant to the 17 staff members from money received through the Paycheck Protection Program. This program is federally funded. The loan will then be paid off through the business.

Those of you that frequent Gillie's do not need to worry about major changes. That place is already a well oiled machine and it does not appear that the new owners will be making any changes.

I don't expect this to spark a movement of bosses leaving their businesses to loyal employees, but you never know. That being said, I did post an article about Michiganders tweeting more than any other state about quitting their jobs.

I think it's a safe bet that none of those types of tweets are coming from Gillie's Coney Island Restaurant workers. Congrats to all involved.
