Now this is some good news. We all know that Phonte is a jack-of-all-trades -- he’s a rapper, a singer and a ghostwriter. But now he’s a healthy snack. Huh? Let us explain.

On Friday (March 2), the former Little Brother member went on his Twitter page to announce that he played a banana on an episode of the popular children’s series Sesame Street. In the video above, Elmo wants to eat a healthy snack and can’t decide on whether he should grab a banana or an apple.

So his good friend DJ Lobster sets up a "Food Rap Battle" to help Elmo in his decision-making process. In the contest, Phonte (voicing the banana) must spit his flavorful lyrics against his fruity rival the apple (voiced by Tavi Fields).

“They need to rap it before we snack it,” DJ Lobster tells Elmo.

Both fruits delivered some clever rhymes, but there could be only one winner. We are not going to give it away, but Elmo makes a wise and healthy choice at the end. Watch the video above.

Meanwhile, Phonte just released his new album No News Is Good News, his first solo project since his Charity Starts At Home LP, which was released back in 2011.

The collection boasts 10 tracks with guest appearances from Freddie Gibbs on the love ballad "Change of Mind," and Eric Roberson on "Find That Love Again," which samples "Between Us 2" by Josef Leimberg and Bilal.

You can cop Phonte's album on Spotify and other streaming platforms or download it via iTunes.
