Roddy Ricch's New Album Debuts at No. 1

Roddy Ricch's first studio album is making waves at the top of the Billboard chart.

On Sunday (Dec. 15), Billboard confirmed that the 2019 XXL Freshman's newest album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial made its debut on the Billboard 200 chart at No. 1.

According to Nielsen Music, Ricch's new album, which features songs like "Tip Toe" and "The Box," racked up 101,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 12. The album beat out other competitors like Camila Cabello's Romance album, which sold 86,000 units and the late XXXTentacion's Bad Vibes Forever album, which sold 65,000 units.

Roddy has been on a roll during the last 4th quarter of the decade. Last month, the Compton, Calif. rapper received two nominations ahead of the 2020 Grammy Awards. Ricch was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Performance for his appearance on Mustard's "Ballin' and Best Rap Performance for his work on Nipsey Hussle and Hit-Boy's “Racks in the Middle." Speaking with XXL over the summer about the latter record, Ricch admitted that he didn't even like it at first.

"All my songs mean something to me. They like my kids, but that one, I hold very much close value to it," Ricch said. "I didn't even like it at first. I just made the hook and I left it. And Nipsey picked it up and really did his thing with it... That song just been meaning a lot to me lately, you know, like, I can really feel everything we was saying."
