Salvation Army Job Fair Aims To Hire Bell Ringers, Happening Today
The Salvation Army of Genesee County is hosting a job fair today to find some much needed bell ringers.
There's no word on how may positions the Salvation Army still has open for the 2016 Red Kettle Campaign.
The job fair is happening today (Thursday October 13th) from 9am to Noon at the Citadel Corps, 211 W. Kearsley St in Downtown Flint.
The jobs pay $8.40 an hour, but don't walk in thinking that this is easy money. Take it from someone who has been a bell ringer in the past. This is a job that is done because you are looking to make a difference, not a buck. You are outside, in all sorts of conditions, and despite the conditions, you must be friendly to the people walking by.
I don't want to paint a negative picture of bell ringing, because it was a very satisfying job that I've done. You should just be prepared for what the job entails.
If you are heading to the job fair today, make sure to you follow the following requirements.
- 18 or older
- Bring valid ID
- Bring Social Security Card
- Bring schedule of availability
If you do become a bell ringer, make sure the first thing you bring to work with you every day is a smile.
