College football fans in Michigan have had their wish granted, as the Big 10 announced that football will begin in October.

The announcement was messy, to say it kindly. Reports that the Big 10 had decided to start playing football in 2020 came out before the official announcement. Things started to get hectic when Nebraska president Ted Carter said that the season was going to start, while unknowingly speaking into a microphone Tuesday afternoon. It didn't take long for the internet to jump on board after that.

Big 10 Commissioner, Kevin Warren, talked about the task force that has been put together to help ensure safety while returning to the field this year in the press release.

Our focus with the Task Force over the last six weeks was to ensure the health and safety of our student-athletes. Our goal has always been to return to competition so all student-athletes can realize their dream of competing in the sports they love. We are incredibly grateful for the collaborative work that our Return to Competition Task Force have accomplished to ensure the health, safety and wellness of student-athletes, coaches and administrators.

Each of the Big 10 schools will have adhere to the new guidelines, which includes weekly Covid testing starting at the end of September. The schools will be put on a color coded system laid out by the Big 10.
