A small earthquake hit Monroe County on May 4, 2026, surprising many Southeast Michigan residents. While rare, earthquakes do happen in Michigan more often than people realize.

When I think of earthquakes, I typically associate them with places like California. However, Michigan has indeed experienced significant seismic activity throughout its history.
