This certainly won't add to the holiday cheer. Distribution issues could make your favorite liquor hard to find just when you need it most: the holidays.

Did you know that just three companies are responsible for the majority of liquor deliveries in Michigan? It's easy to see how problems at one could lead to a statewide shortage. Detroit Free Press reports that software problems at a new site have delayed Republic National Distributing Company's deliveries to bars, restaurants and supermarkets. The Michigan Liquor Control Commission is promising to get the problem solved

We are holding Republic National Distributing Company accountable on how they plan to fix this situation for our licenses. It's our priority to ensure our licenses have their shelves stocked for the public, especially in advance of the holiday season.

-Michigan Liquor Control Commission Chair Pat Gagliardi

So far, most of the issues have been with establishments on the East side of the state, but a Byron Center hub makes delays a very real possibility here. So, as we head for 2020, Michigan may look less like the party of the Roaring Twenties and more like the dry days of Prohibition in America.
