Tory Lanez thinks that 6ix9ine releasing his Dummy Boy album while in jail is a big moment for the Brooklyn rapper just like it was for the late Tupac Skakur.

In an interview with Tim Westwood posted yesterday (Dec. 3), the "Talk to Me" rapper opened up about a number of topics, touching on everything from his competitive, yet friendly rap battle with Joyner Lucas to his latest project Love Me Now? During their conversation, Westwood asked about Lanez's thoughts about 6ix9ine's legal troubles. Overall, he believes it's a "tough situation" and that 6ix9ine is a "very good guy" while also saying that Tekashi is the only other artist to generate a buzz from behind bars like 'Pac.

"It's really sad to see somebody at that platform...it kinda reminds me of, like, Bobby Shmurda," Tory says. "But Bobby Shmurda didn't even get to go as far. For somebody to go that far, you got Kanye, Nicki Minaj, your album's dropping. It's like, the only nigga who had shit like that popping was Tupac. When Tupac was in jail he dropped the biggest album. Not to say it was the biggest album of all fucking time, but it was a pretty big moment. It's sad he's gotta be locked up during it, is all I'm saying."

Lanez is referring to 2Pac's third studio album Me Against the World, which dropped while Pac was incarcerated in 1995. The album, which features songs like "Dear Mama" and "So Many Tears," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. Fast-forward to 2018, 6ix9ine's debut album Dummy Boy landed in the top five of the Billboard 200 chart falling in second place behind Travis Scott who currently sits at No. 1.

Tory continues to vouch for the "Kika" rapper by stating that he's really a funny guy behind the scenes and that he doesn't wish jail on anybody.

"Very good guy... The thing about it is every time I seen him, he's always joking around. Behind all of the extra shit, he's a really funny, genuine, warm-hearted kid. ... I wish jail on nobody."
