Walmart is calling the removal of Cosmopolitan Magazine from their checkout lanes a business decision.

Walmart made the decisions after pressure from the National Center on Sexual Exploitation. They talked about the decision to USA Today saying,

Walmart will continue to offer Cosmopolitan to customers that wish to purchase the magazine, but it will no longer be located in the checkout aisles. While this was primarily a business decision, the concerns raised were heard

The majority of the complaints reported by NCOSE centered around the number of families that were exposed to age inappropriate material in the checkout line. The group released a statement about the Walmart decision.

You can go through and buy your groceries with your family knowing you don't have to be exposed to this graphic and often degrading and offensive material

This is being considered a big win for groups that have tried to get questionable material covered or removed from the checkout lines from stores. The big question now is if other major grocery store chains will follow suit.
