The Teal Pumpkin Project is helping every kid have a happy and safe Halloween.

Halloween is a kids dream holiday.

You get to dress crazy, and go door to door getting candy! Then you spill all of your candy on to the floor and eat until you can't eat anymore! What could be better?!

That version of Halloween does not apply to kids who suffer from food allergies an other allergy related symptoms. Halloween turns into a holiday that could be life threatening if you eat or touch the wrong thing for food allergy sufferers.

The Teal Pumpkin Project is an initiative by FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education) to make sure all kids can enjoy the Halloween festivities. A house with a teal pumpkin lets trick-or-treaters know that they are giving away non-food goodies. They even have an interactive map to show areas that are participating. Check out the map of our area below.

You can see that there are not a ton of people that are participating right now, but it's not too late to get on board.

The Teal Project lets you register and even gives you a ton of resources to get started for free.

If you are looking for even more Teal Pumpkin gear, you can find a ton of it on Amazon.

This is one of those things that I've never spent much time thinking about until I spent time with a friend that suffers from a severe peanut allergy. The smallest contact with peanuts, even dust in the air, can trigger a life threatening situation.

I can't imagine how much of a downer Halloween must become for kids with severe food allergies, so I think this is an awesome way to help bring the fun back to Halloween for everyone.
