After posting a message a couple of days ago claiming that he'd terminated his recent deal with Capital Records (a representative from Caroline/Capital Records has since disputed that claim), XXXTentacion now says that he's quitting music altogether.

Today, he went on Instagram to say that he's not going to be making any more music because he feels "mentally abused."

"Sad to announce I will not be making or releasing any music, I am tired of being mentally abused for trying to help people, I'm tired of the hate, I'm done," he wrote.

XXX's rise to fame this year has been the subject of much controversy. In December he'll head to court to face charges related to allegedly beating and strangling his pregnant ex-girlfriend. Last week, students protested his planned performance at the University of Montana, as a result, prompting him to cancel. It's not clear if there was a specific incident that prompted his dramatic declaration.

At any rate, we'll have to see how well it sticks.
