The Twitter-verse was atwitter on Friday night (May 11) when Kanye West tweeted, “2 Chainz is charging 100k for a verse now cause he’s G.O.O.D!!!!!!” It’s no secret that 2 Chainz and Yeezy have been working closely together but does it mean that the Atlanta rapper is an official member of the G.O.O.D. Music family?

Maybe.

During an interview with Hot 97.5 radio DJ Bootleg Kev, 2 Chainz was sort of vague about West’s possible announcement that he’s now part of the G.O.O.D. Music team. “I don’t think it is,” he says. “He’s just saying like I’m good, like, I’m ill.”

The ‘No Lie’ rapper further explains that he often does free verses for other artists as a favor to them (what he calls the “homeboy special”), but now it’s time to start charging fees. “I think [Kanye] felt like we should just put that out there, that we ain’t doing no more of that. You too good, for that,” says 2 Chainz.

We have to agree. Within the past year, 2 Chainz has become one of the biggest rappers in the game. He has appeared on several hit songs already including Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Beez In the Trap‘ and the G.O.O.D. Music’s posse track ‘Mercy.’ His latest single, ‘No Lie’ with Drake, is currently heating up on radio. So it’s about time he starts collecting fat checks for his rhymes.

When asked if the G.O.O.D. Music label will be stamped on the back of his upcoming CD ‘Based on a T.R.U. Story’ (due Aug. 14), he simply coughed.

“If you know anything about my campaign, you know I love the element of surprise,” he adds. “That’s one thing that drew me to hip-hop.”
