Almost half of America is choosing Cremation over burial now after their ticket is punched.  Funeral homes are making adjustments to accommodate, but what is the motivation for the spike in Cremations?

Nationwide, about 42 percent of deaths last year resulted in cremation, up from 26 percent in 2000.

Funeral directors say that cost plays a role in the growth of cremations.  I personally like that added bonus that it guarantees you will never come back as a brain craving zombie.

The Cremation Association of North America says the cost of cremation and a basic funeral generally ranges from $1,000 to $3,000, with the average cost of a traditional funeral being around $7,755.

Experts say that another reason behind the growth is that family members living farther apart.
