General Motors had picked up and moved to Mexico and left our area dry of jobs. Now, the struggling automaker is bringing the Chevy Volt production to Michigan. The recent recalls has damaged the public confidence in their products.

On Tuesday, GM's CEO Mary Barra announced the switch in location for production of the Chevy Volt but no new jobs will be added. The production will be held in Warren, Michigan.

Detroit has produced the plug-in Chevy Volt since 2010 but the Warren plant will produce the 2nd Generation Chevy Volt which should be available in 2015. Barra should make another announcement about $300 million investment into Michigan before the end of the year.

I am happy to see that General Motors is bring the production of the Chevy Volt to Michigan but I would have love to have seen news of new jobs as well. Our economy here in Michigan was hurt by GM and our area should be the top priority in investments.
